A Break for Artists in Blogland

Hi, friends!

Thank you for your continued support and participation at Artists in Blogland.  It's been fun to see so many people share their artwork here!

I've had a lot of fun throughout the past couple of years running Artists in Blogland and at this point in my life, I am going to take a break.  I feel like I need to scale back on things that I am doing.  I want to make sure that my heart and soul is put into everything I do.  If it isn't, then I know I need to simplify.

Some of you know that I am pregnant again and in April my life is going to get a lot crazier, I'm sure!
There are a lot of great resources on Artists in Blogland and I'm going to leave the group up for the time being.  If you have made a tutorial or there is something you'd like to save for reference, go ahead and copy it for your files.  At some point, I may be taking the blog down.

I'd love to keep in touch with you at my blog!

I encourage you to check out some of these other free groups if you are interested:

December Scavenger Hunt: One Word Resolution

The scavenger hunt theme for December is ONE WORD.

Either find or choose ONE WORD (or phrase) that represents your 2013 year or a "resolution" word you are making for the new year.

This website (Christian-based) is a one-word resolution campaign.  At the bottom, you can see some of the words other people picked.

If you already have picked out a word, leave it in the comments below.

Here are all the details!

  • Each month will be a different Scavenger Hunt theme!
  • You will have the whole month of December to participate.  Link up an entry that fits the scavenger hunt.  The linky will remain up until Jan. 15.
  •  How is it a Scavenger Hunt?  You can interpret the challenge to be like a scavenger hunt.
           1)  Take a photo that fits the theme
           2)  Make a new artwork inspired by the topic
           3)  Find an old artwork or blog post that incorporates the theme
           4)  Create a tutorial or respond in another way related to the theme.

Winter Shop Sales!

Hi all!  As the holidays are approaching, many people like to support artists and small shops.  I know many of our group members have online shops to sell their art/crafts/miscellaneous items.

Winter is a great time to add a discount to encourage shoppers!

** Wouldn't it be fun to see what everyone is offering now in their shops? ***

In the comments section add a link to your online shop.
  • Include a short description of what you sell
  • Add a discount code if you have one!

For example, mine is:

Marcia Beckett Etsy Shop:  I sell prints of my mixed media artwork, lots of vintage ephemera, collage packs and postcards.   For the months of November and December, you can use the discount code:  Winter2013 to receive 25% off everything in my shop!

I can't wait to peruse your stores!

Are you familiar with this famous work of art by Charles Demuth (I Saw the Figure of 5 in Gold)?

I can't wait to see what you come up with this month.  Our first Scavenger Hunt Challenge, DOORS and WINDOWS, was amazing!  Check out all the fabulous artwork linked up in that post!

    For Show & Tell Saturday:
    * Please visit at least 3 other artists and if you use Pinterest, please PIN your favorite art from this week.  I know Pinterest brings a lot of traffic to my blogs, so it is a great way to share art. *

Add a link to a recent blog post and make sure to grab one of our buttons or put a link in your post back to Artists in Blogland so more people can join us.  Try to visit at least 3 other blogs and leave comments.

If you are reading from a blog reader, you might have to pop on over to the actual blog post to add your link.

By participating in this link-up you give us permission to share your artwork on our blog (with a link back to your blog.)

    Coming Soon....

This week will be our last Show & Tell Saturday for awhile.  I decided we needed to take a break from Show & Tell to make way for something new....
